BURRIED A HORSE ...
a little more than a week ago one of the horses was bit by a rattle-snake. it's face swelled up 2 or 3 times as big as it normally was. we got a vet to come out and look at the horse, and the vet said not to worry, the horse was doing well, and the vet gave us some antibiotics to bring the swelling down and prevent secondary infection and pneumonia. we followed the vet's directions, and within 2 or 3 days the horse was looking and acting much better.
last night the horse had separated itself from the rest of the horses, and was breathing very heavily and with much effort. this morning it was laying dead across the creek from the cabin i've been staying in. we just finished burying the dead horse with a backhoe.
i'm coming home friday morning.
